M. Allison Reeves
I am a counsellor in private practice here in Victoria. I have been counselling men, women, and those adults who are in relationship since 1994. I counsel women and men grappling with a wide range of issues. I am well-known in the community for working with clients living with chronic physical illness and/or pain, and am also a trained EMDR clinician (since 1998), I counsel people who have experienced trauma and have not yet recovered.
In addition to my private practice, I provided Employee Family Assistance Program counselling for employees of the Capital Health Region, now known as the Vancouver Island Health Authority for 5 years. Through them I began counselling virtually thousands of individuals encountering a wide array of personal problems. After I resigned as a sub-contractor for VIHA, I became a contractor providing group counselling services for VIHA Seniors’ Health staff members. I welcome organizations interested in offering psycho-educational and/or counselling services to their staff members and invite you to contact me.
Frequently, I give psycho-educational seminars and/or trainings. Many are sponsored by non-profit societies. These agencies include: Arthritis Society, British Columbia Schizophrenia Society, Crohn’s and Colitis Society, Dystonia Support Group, Epilepsy and Parkinson's Society, Family Caregivers' Network Society, Fibromyalgia Support Network, Medical Office Assistants’ Association, Myasthenia Gravis Support Group, Neuropathy Support Group, REES Network, Vancouver Island Multiple Sclerosis Society, CUPE Staff Development Workshops.

A few words about my approach:
I participate in on-going study, consultation, and peer supervision
with highly qualified professionals.
I have a Masters degree from the Educational Psychology department,
University of Victoria. My two specialties are: learning and development
in addition to counselling.
My thesis focused on people’s well-being
in their general everyday life.
I have been living with multiple sclerosis since 1980, and
I continue to personally and professionally explore the relationships
people have with disease.
I am committed to my clients’ goals.
I am transparent (nothing is hidden) in my work with clients.
I will provide a safe haven in which to explore
your issues.
I desire to gently provide clarity, respect, and a plan of action with
a sense of compassion.
I also offer confidential counselling sessions, group sessions, and
workshops
