I am a founding member of Westocast Clinical Counselling. I have volunteered my time as a member of the B.C.A.C.C. ethics committee and delegate council. I have served on the board of Citizens Counselling Center.

I engage in regular on-going peer supervision, professional development and self directed studies.

In addition to my private practice, I provide counseling services through the City of Victoria Employee and Family Assistance Program.

My relationship with my very creative young-adult daughter enriches and expands my life. I have a wide range of interest and enjoy learning, playfulness and connection.

A few words about my approach:

I help my clients experience that they have the resources they need to live the lives they want to have. My clients learn to safely challenge old ineffective beliefs, habits and behaviours in order to connect with and build personal resourcefulness. When this happens, old challenges, those old "stuck painful places," become much less daunting, even resolved, and clients can meet new challenges in positive, satisfying and cretive ways.

I work with awareness of body/mind/spirit connectedness. I am experienced in helping people recover from traumas such as sexual abuse, accidents or witnessing traumatic events.

Angela Burns, Susan Farling and Jocelyn Harris formed Westcoast Clinical Counselling after completing their Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology at the University of Victoria.

Besides sharing adjoining office space, Angela, Susan and Jocelyn share core professional values and beliefs. Their approach favors gentle non-invasive therapies. They see the role of client and therapist as a partnership in self-exploration and healing.

As part of their private practice, they work with the City of Victoria and the Township of Esquimalt in providing counselling services to their employees and family members.

They are committed to both their clients and their profession. In 1988 they were actively involved in the founding of the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors, a regulatory body that sets the standards for the counselling profession in British Columbia. They remain committed and active members in good standing.
