WESTCOAST CLINICAL COUNSELLORS | Registered Clinical Counsellor | Counsellor & Coach | M.A.

My Background

Since 1989 I have had the privilege of serving men and women, individuals and couples, from 18 to 80, straight, gay and lesbian in my private practice. My clinical practice has included both short-term solution focused counselling and longer-term psychotherapy. More recently I have enjoyed expanding my practice to include coaching. For over a decade I worked in acute care psychiatry and mental health intake as a registered nurse.

A passionate life-long learner, I engage in regular on-going peer supervision, professional development and self directed studies. I have a longstanding interest in holistic approaches to well being and a fascination with body/mind/spirit interaction.

I am a member in good standing with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have volunteered as a member of the BCACC ethics committee and delegate council. I have served on the board of Citizens Counselling Centre. I’m a founding member of Westcoast Clinical Counselling.

In addition to my private practice, I provide counselling services through various Employee and Family Assistance Programs, including the City of Victoria EFAP. I am registered with The Crime Victim Assistance Program.

I am certified as both a Calling in “The One” and Conscious Uncoupling coach trained by author and creator Katherine Woodward Thomas MA, MFT.

My Approach

I offer support and guidance for development of reflection and inner discovery that allows for compassionate self understanding.

I engage with my clients offering feedback to help them safely challenge old ineffective beliefs and behaviours that are distressing and inhibit them from reaching goals.

I teach empowering practices from both eastern and western psychology which support personal resourcefulness, resilience and flourishing.

I encourage body-mind awareness.

My approach is practical and results oriented. I help my clients create action plans and support follow through.

I use a variety of effective approaches, depending on the individual client’s need.

I am experienced in helping people recover from traumatic events using Traumatic Incident Reduction. The following comment is typical of the results clients experience with TIR: “Somehow it resolves issues gently and I feel more objective and not so emotional. - client
